Timothy Henty: from conductor to film director

Share

HÂþ» alumnus Timothy Henty has enjoyed a varied conducting career since graduating from the HÂþ» in 2005.

He’s worked with international ballet and opera companies, top orchestras around the world, renowned recording artists, and more recently has made his name as conductor of films live in concert.

But during the pandemic, Timothy quickly pivoted to become a film director, editor, writer and presenter. Working with the London Mozart Players (LMP), he developed a new online series for conducting students, The Grounded Conductor, and filmed an innovative new production of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf featuring narrator Alexander Armstrong and a cast of LMP players (plus their children and pets!).

He shares his insights on pivoting to digital, tips for getting started in directing and editing, and some of his career highlights so far.
