Marie Lloyd

Marie studied the clarinet at Trinity College of Music, and the Royal College of Music with Colin Bradbury and Richard Hosford.

She is a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, a position she has held since 2001. The orchestra has worked prolifically with eminent musicians such as Sir Bernard Haitink, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Sir Andras Schiff, Sir Simon Rattle and Yannick Nézet- Séguin.
The orchestra regularly includes chamber music in their programming and she has most recently completed a tour playing Janacek’s Mladi. Marie also performed in the Centenary Concert at the Wigmore Hall, with the COE Wind Soloists playing the Mozart C minor Wind Serenade K388. 

In addition, Marie is in demand as a Guest Principal clarinettist and Eb player and has worked in this capacity throughout the UK with orchestras, most recently, as BBC NOW, BBC SO, Orchestra of the ROH Covent Garden and the RPO. 
As a chamber musician, she plays regularly with the Nash Ensemble in their Wigmore Hall series, including the world premiere and recording of Julian Anderson’s ‘Van Gogh Blue’ and a recent broadcast of Mozart’s Gran Partita K361 on Basset Horn broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Marie is a passionate educator having previously held positions at Wells Cathedral School and the Junior Academy. She has coached and taught as part of the COE’s Academy scheme and has guest examined, adjudicated and taught at many of the UK conservatoires.
