Marie Lloyd appointed Head of Woodwind Faculty

We are delighted to announce the appointment of clarinettist Marie Lloyd as Head of Woodwind at the HÂþ», commencing in September 2022. Marie will succeed Simon Channing, who retires from this post at the end of August.
Marie is a passionate educator who is on the Chamber Orchestra of Europe Academy staff, and regularly gives masterclasses and coaching sessions throughout the UK and abroad.
Marie studied the clarinet at Trinity College of Music, and the Royal College of Music with Colin Bradbury and Richard Hosford. She is a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, a position she has held since 2001, and is in demand as guest principal clarinet and Eb clarinettist throughout the UK. As a chamber musician she plays regularly with the Nash Ensemble. Until recently she taught at Wells Cathedral School and the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music.

Being an alumna myself, I know how transformative an HÂþ» education can be and am very much looking forward to working with both staff and students to continue to build on Simon Channing’s extraordinary legacy.’

Marie will oversee the Woodwind Faculty of over 120 students ranging from undergraduate to doctoral programmes, beginning in the Autumn Term in 2022.
